AN ENGLISHMAN ABROAD by Alan Bennett This is a short comedy based on a true incident in the life of the celebrated actress Coral Browne and tells the witty, touching story of her meeting with Guy Burgess in Moscow. Burgess was a civil servant who fled to Russia from Britain in 1951 with his colleague Maclean when they were warned that they might be accused of spying. The play won the Laurence Olivier Award for Comedy of the Year in 1988. Complimentary welcome drinks from 7.30 p.m. The performance begins at 8 p.m. All proceeds will be presented to the Cantonal Hospital of Geneva in support of cancer programmes. Donations are welcome. The cast includes Frances Favre, Julian Finn, Martin Gatehouse and Christophe Lerche. Directed by Valerie Antonietti. |
