This hilarious farce is about a man who picks up somebody else's briefcase by mistake and finds that it contains £1 million in cash. He decides that he and his wife should flee their routine, humdrum existence and abscond with the stash to Barcelona, but the mob is hard on their heels. Switched cases, mistaken identities, crooked police officers, greedy friends and murderers on the loose make this plot fast-paced, exciting and filled with humour and danger. Ray Cooney is a British playwright well known for his fast-paced comedies (Out of Order and Charley's Aunt among them have been produced by GEDS in recent years). Funny Money is one of his most recent one and ran very successfully for two years in the West End. "Farce-lovers are in for two and half hours of inspired, demented bliss" (Sunday Times) |
