In the 18th century commedia dell'arte, we follow the fate and the spiralling complications of Truffaldino, when he hits on the scam of doubling his income by serving two masters at the same time without either of them noticing. This is a lively and intelligent new adaptation by Lee Hall, with a modern free text complete with bawdy and juicy jokes, that loses nothing of the pathos from the original.
